Kevin earned NAIA All-American honors in football and wrestling before graduating in 1998. A defensive lineman, he was named to the All-American second team in 1996. The Raiders' defensive MVP as a senior, he was a first team all-conference selection in 1996 and a second team honoree in 1995 and 1997. Wrestling as a heavyweight, VanderLinden placed fourth at the national meet in 1998 to receive All-American status. He earned All-American honorable mention recognition by placing eighth at nationals in 1996 and seventh in 1997.
