High School: competed four years in both cross country and track and field for Sheldon High School; qualified for state cross country three years, finishing 31^st as a junior; earned all-conference honors all four years, finishing fifth as a junior and eighth as a senior at the Siouxland conference meet; qualified for state track and field in both the 4x800 (Freshman) and in the 3K the last two years; named all-conference in the 3K as both a sophomore and junior.
