Raiders Drop Spring Opener To Clarke

The Northwestern College women's soccer team came up short in its spring season debut, falling to Clarke University 1-0 in a match played today in Dubuque, Iowa. 

Northwestern out-shot the Pride 13-6, including a 7-5 shots on-goal advantage, but could not place one in the back of net for new head coach Shannon Andringa, who was making her debut on the Raider sidelines. 

Scoreless at the half, Clarke netted the game-winner during the 52nd minute on a goal by Reese Castanon. Brynlee Ward (70 minutes) and Abigail Kukuck (20 minutes) combined for the shutout for the Pride.

Kaelin Alons recorded four saves for the Raiders; Josie Maasdam totaled two shots on goal and Abby Noonan had three shots, one on goal. Northwestern is now 5-8-1 this season.
