Baseball Adds Three CSC Academic All-District Selections

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three Northwestern baseball student-athletes have been recognized with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors. Brody Ayers, Devin Dirkx, and Grant Rychnovsky are Northwestern's honorees, receiving accolades for their work on the field and in the classroom.

Ayers, a junior sport management major from Manhattan, Montana, was a First Team All-GPAC performer as a relief pitcher. He had a GPAC-best seven saves, posting a 2.36 ERA with 35 strikeouts, five walks, and a .214 opponent average. At the plate, Ayers hit .286 with 30 runs, 17 doubles, and two home runs. Ayers is a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection.

A senior data science and statistics major from Spencer, Iowa, Dirkx was a Second Team All-GPAC selection as a utility player and an Honorable Mention starting pitcher. He started all 49 games, hitting .303 with 47 RBIs and 12 home runs. On the mound, Dirkx earned seven wins and struck out 39 batters in a team-high 69.1 innings. The baseball team's representative on the Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT), Dirkx is a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree.

Rychnovsky earns his first career CSC Academic All-District honor in his sophomore season. An ag business major from Adel, Iowa, he played in 43 games with 35 starts, scoring 22 runs and driving in 18. Rychnovsky added three home runs, 19 walks, and two stolen bases to his totals, playing two ways as an outfielder and pitcher.

Academic All-America teams will be announced on Tuesday, June 23.
