Raiders Look to Build on Success at GPAC Championships

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The 2026 GPAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships are set to take place on May 1-2 at Heedum Field, located in Fremont, Nebraska. Hosted by Midland University, this event will feature athletes and teams from across the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) competing in a variety of track and field disciplines.

Northwestern is sending a strong contingent of athletes, including standout high jumper Addison Smith, who holds the top high jump mark in the GPAC. Smith achieved the provisional standard at the Sioux City Relays, making her a key athlete to watch during the championships. Other Northwestern athletes to keep an eye on include Kenzie Harder, who holds top-10 conference marks in the long jump and 200m, and Tierney Huss, who will participate in the 100m, 200m and relays.

Relay events will also be a highlight, with Northwestern's 4x800m team of Schroeder, Fryar, DeGroot, and Engelmann entering with a strong time of 9:28.98. The 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams, featuring athletes such as Dunn, Harder, Van Donge, Huss, Blum, and Shull, are also expected to deliver competitive performances.

For those planning to attend the championships in person, tickets are priced at $11 for adults and $4 for students, providing an affordable opportunity to witness top collegiate athletic performances. Additionally, fans unable to make it to Heedum Field can catch all the action live via streaming on the GPAC Network, ensuring that everyone has the chance to support their favorite athletes and teams.
