Coaches Pick Raiders Ninth in Women’s Soccer Poll

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Ahead of its first season under new head coach Vitor Pereira, the Northwestern women's soccer team has been picked ninth in the GPAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Voted on by the league's head coaches, the Raiders were picked ninth with 41 points. Coaches could not vote for their own team.

Hastings took the top spot, receiving 120 points with 10 first-place votes. Concordia followed with 108 points, and Dordt with 97, as both teams also received first-place votes. Morningside rounded out the top four with 89 points.

Northwestern's roster has a new flair this year, welcoming six transfers and two freshmen to a team that has 18 returning players. Among returners is Emily VanderArk on the back line, who led the team with 1,605 minutes played. Taylor Brennan and Marissa Talamantes also scored three goals apiece last season to bolster the offense.
