Edwards’ Multi-Goal Performance Keeps Northwestern in GPAC Tournament Picture

FREMONT, Neb. – Northwestern used a 3-0 shutout to keep its GPAC tournament hopes alive, taking down Midland on the road.

The match commenced with both teams pressing forward, but it was the Red Raiders that capitalized first. Despite several early attempts by the Warriors, including a saved shot by NaTaija Blaylock in the opening minute, the Raiders' defense held firm. Northwestern's Camryn Wilkinson broke the deadlock with a goal in the 25th minute, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. The Warriors' efforts to equalize were thwarted by Bailey Bynum's saves, including another from Blaylock as the half drew to a close.

The second half saw the Raiders solidify their lead with two goals from Aliza Edwards. Her first strike came in the 82nd minute with an assist by Annika Quamen, pushing the Raiders ahead 2-0. Just over a minute later, Edwards scored again, this time assisted by Hannah Gordon, to make it 3-0. The Warriors' attempts to respond included shots by NaTaija Blaylock and Addison Castellanos, but the Raiders' defense, led by goalkeeper Bynum, kept them scoreless. The match concluded with the Raiders maintaining their 3-0 advantage.
