Six Raiders Recognized with CSC Honor

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Six Northwestern women's soccer student-athletes have been recognized with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors. Hannah Gordon, Lucy Staines, Emily VanderArk, Olivia Regnerus, Marissa Talamantes, and Annika Quamen are Northwestern's honorees, receiving accolades for their work on the pitch and in the classroom.

Gordon, a sophomore biology health professions major from Marshall, Minnesota, played in all 17 games this season. She was a starter in 13 matches, taking four shots with two on goal and recording an assist in October 25's match at Midland.

Regnerus, a sophomore nursing major from Vermillion, South Dakota, started all 17 games for the Raiders, scoring four goals and recording one assist. She had a game-winning goal in September 13's win at Dakota State and scored her first career goal in Northwestern's first win of the season over William Penn.

Quamen, a senior actuarial science major from Tea, South Dakota, played in 16 matches with 10 starts on the back line. She attempted four shots on the year and dished out an assist in Northwestern's shutout win at Midland on October 25.

Staines, a junior criminal justice major from Redcar, England, was an Honorable Mention All-GPAC pick this year after scoring six goals and dishing out four assists. The transfer midfielder sparked the Raider offense this season, taking 22 shots with 15 on target. She finished the season second on the team in goals (6), assists (4), and points (16).

Talamantes, a junior elementary education major from Marshall, Minnesota, played in all 17 matches and collected nine starts. She scored three goals on the year, recording a two-goal performance in September 24's win at Waldorf. Talamantes also had an assist in back-to-back outings against Avila and Dakota State.

VanderArk, a senior exercise science major from Byron Center, Michigan, started in all 17 matches on defense. She played 90 minutes in 14 games, and finishes her career with 70 career starts, which sits fifth in program history.

VanderArk and Staines will be placed among the nominees for CSC Academic All-America teams, voted on by members of the organization. Academic All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, December 17.
