Cheer Gets Five All-GPAC Selections; Decker Named Coach of the Year

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern competitive cheer received five all-conference honors, and Taylor Decker was named the GPAC Coach of the Year after the Raiders clinched their second consecutive conference title last weekend.

All-conference auditions were submitted with a pre-recorded video and voted on by a panel of judges.

Taylor Decker – Coach of the Year
Decker becomes Northwestern's first GPAC Coach of the Year in cheer and dance after she led the Raiders to back-to-back GPAC Championships. Entering the NAIA Championships, Northwestern holds the 11th-best season average in the country (87.17). At the Concordia Day of Duals on February 8, the Raiders posted their highest single-round score in program history (93.45).

Hannah Van Maaren – First Team
Van Maaren, a sophomore flyer and tumbler from Sheldon, Iowa, is now a two-time all-conference selection after receiving All-GPAC honors her freshman year. She is Northwestern's second athlete to receive all-conference honors multiple times, joining three-time selection Nathan Tornow.

Adriana Sandbulte – Second Team
Sandbulte, a senior flyer and tumbler from Sioux Center, Iowa, receives her first career All-GPAC selection.

Bella Muller – Second Team
Muller, a freshman tumbler from Audubon, Iowa, receives all-conference honors in her first season with the Raiders.

Kate McEwen – Second Team
McEwen, a senior base and tumbler from Orange City, Iowa, is a first-time All-GPAC selection in her final season in Raider Red.

Allie Oberhelman – Third Team
Oberhelman, a sophomore base and tumbler from Pomeroy, Iowa, received Third Team All-GPAC recognition in her second season.

In addition to Decker's GPAC Coach of the Year honor, Haley Jesse of Midland was named the GPAC Cheer Athlete of the Year.

The Raiders will compete at the NAIA Championships in two weeks, heading to Ypsilanti, Michigan on March 28-29.
