Competitive Cheer Claims Three-Peat

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Red Raider competitive cheer team earned his third consecutive GPAC title on Friday, claiming the best score of the night in the finals to catapult into first.

"I knew they could do it, but I didn't know if it was in our cards this year because we had such fierce competition leading up to this," head coach Taylor Decker said. "They came through and brought the energy in front of our home crowd."

Northwestern found itself in second place after the preliminary round with a score of 87.93, trailing Midland by nearly a full point. The Raiders upped the ante in the finals, posting a 90.08 to bring their weighted total to a championship-winning 89.55.

"I'm proud of this team. They've pushed through all season long through hard practices and new rule changes. They show up for one another and continue to amaze me every day," Decker added.

Taylor Decker was named GPAC Co-Coach of the Year, while Northwestern's all-conference honorees were Bella Muller (1^st), Hannah Feikema (1^st), Jovany Kabongo (2^nd), Joao Mbala (2^nd), and Allie Oberhelman (3^rd).
