Kirkeby Inks Contract with Schaumburg Boomers

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Former Northwestern baseball pitcher Dylan Kirkeby has been signed by the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League.

A right-handed pitcher for the Raiders from 2020-24, Kirkeby ended his career as Northwestern's strikeouts leader, punching out 275 batters. He was a three-time all-conference selection, receiving First Team All-GPAC honors in 2021 and 2023. Kirkeby compiled 13 wins as a starter, posting an opponent batting average of .243 and two shutouts. He threw 237.1 innings in a Red Raider uniform, finishing sixth in program history.

"Dylan had one of the most decorated careers in Northwestern baseball, twice earning First Team All-GPAC and leaving as our strikeout king from the mound," Northwestern head coach Brian Wede said. "He is a very talented pitcher who has a strong desire to learn about the game and the craft of pitching. We can't wait to watch him compete and continue to push himself in professional baseball."

Hailing out of Schaumburg, Illinois, the Boomers were founded in 2012 and have won four league championships since their inception. Schaumburg has qualified for the playoffs in six of its 12 seasons as a franchise, finishing 51-45 last season.

Kirkeby and the Boomers will open the season on May 2, hosting the Joliet Slammers.
