Northwestern Lands Two Wrestlers on All-Conference Team

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern wrestlers Noah Parmelee and Kaleb Grove both received their first career all-conference honors after their performances at the GPAC Championships last weekend.

Noah Parmelee – Second Team (141 lbs)
Parmelee, a junior from Sioux City, Iowa, earned an NAIA Championships berth with a third-place finish at the conference meet. He went 4-1, including a win over No. 19 Zach Zitek in the third-place match. On the year, Parmelee holds a record of 15-8 and has collected 178 match points.

"What an honor for Noah. It is a testament to the hard work he has put into his season," head coach Rik Dahl commented. "His third-place finish at the tournament led the team, and he has been a leader on the team all year. A catalyst for us, he has been leader in a program that finished the year 7-3, our best dual meet season since 1999. Noah finished the regular season 19-8 and leads the team in takedowns with 53."

Kaleb Grove – Honorable Mention (197 lbs)
Grove, a freshman from Weiser, Idaho, placed fourth at the GPAC Championships, going 3-2 on the weekend. He collected two tech falls while battling through the consolation bracket, receiving an NAIA Championships berth in his first collegiate season. Grove has compiled a record of 13-6 on the season, winning three bouts by fall and picking up 153 match points.

"This is quite an honor for the freshman from Idaho," Dahl added. "He was one of three freshmen to make the All-Conference team, and it is a result of his gritty, hard-nosed style of wrestling. Grove finished the regular season 16-8 (12 of his matches resulted in bonus point wins) and went 5-1 in dual meets. This is just the beginning for Grove as he has a bright future ahead of him!"

Doane's Tyson Beauperthuy was named the GPAC Wrestler of the Year, while Koen Mattern of Hastings and Dana Vote of Doane were named Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.
