American State Bank Raider Athletes of the Week

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College athletics has named men's basketball student-athlete Jesse Van Kalsbeek and women's soccer student-athlete Aliza Edwards as the Raider Athletes of the Week, presented by American State Bank, for their performances during the week of October 27th.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jesse Van Kalsbeek, Men's Basketball

Van Kalsbeek (So., Orange City, Iowa) shined in the first game of the year for the Raiders as they defeated #24 Friends 95-87.
The sophomore didn't miss a step from where he left off last season with 40 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.
Van Kalsbeek shot well in the contest going 15-19, including 2-2 from three and 8-9 from the line.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Aliza Edwards, Women's Soccer

Edwards (Jr., Spencer, Iowa) stepped up in a must-win game for Northwestern, scoring two goals in a 3-0 win over Midland on Saturday.
The junior scored two goals on just five shots to lead the Raiders to a critical win to keep their tournament hopes alive for a matchup against Dordt.
Edwards and her team now have the most wins in a season since 2019 as they look for their first GPAC tournament appearance since that same season.
