Laughlin Returns to Northwestern as Assistant Baseball Coach

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Former Red Raider baseball student-athlete and graduate assistant Robby Laughlin has been added to Brian Wede's staff as an assistant coach.

"My family and I are so excited to be back at Northwestern and in Orange City," Laughlin stated. "This place means so much to me. Northwestern and the Orange City community framed me into who I am today, and I am overjoyed that I have the opportunity to make a similar impact in the lives of the young men in this program."

A 2018 Northwestern graduate with a degree in sport management, Laughlin has coaching experience at the NAIA, junior college, and NCAA Division III levels. Most recently, he was the head assistant and hitting coach at Central College, where the Dutch increased their home runs and stolen bases totals from the previous season. Prior to his stop at Central, Laughlin served as a hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Dawson Community College and Bryant & Stratton College, coaching both teams to multiple offensive records along the way.

"We are excited to welcome Robby back to the Northwestern baseball staff," Vice President for Athletics Tony Hoops said. "His passion for our baseball program is contagious and will greatly impact our student-athletes."

Laughlin was previously a graduate assistant on Wede's staff following his playing career. While working as a graduate assistant, he obtained a master's degree in athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine (Calif.).

Hailing from Keosauqua, Iowa, Laughlin will reside in Orange City with his wife, Mariah (Davis) '20 and twin daughters Kennedy and Kamryn.
