Raiders' Season Ends in GPAC Tourney

Yankton, S.D. - Northwestern played the second game of the GPAC Tournament on the backside of the bracket where they would fall 10-3 to the 2-seeded Morningside Mustangs to bring an end to the Raiders' season.

Win:
M. Hymer (2-0)
Loss: Micah De Haan (5-5)

The Mustangs opened the first inning with a strong offensive performance, scoring six runs on six hits, including a two-run homer and a solo shot. The Raiders responded with one run in the bottom of the inning, capitalizing on a fielding error to score Devin Dirkx, making it 6-1 after the first. In the fifth inning, Morningside added to their lead with three runs, bringing the score to 9-1. Northwestern managed to cut into the lead in the sixth inning when Kevin Rubio hit a solo home run to left center, making it 9-2. Northwestern continued to chip away in the seventh, as a sacrifice fly by Grant Guidry brought in a run, reducing the deficit to 10-3. The Raiders were unable to mount a comeback despite a resilient effort in the later innings as Morningside wins 10-3.

Game Notes:
  • Grant Rychnovsky recorded two hits and a walk
  • Kevin Rubio hit twice as well including a solo homerun
  • Aidan Sieperda registered four strikeouts while allowing two hits and two runs in four innings pitched
