Raiders Begin GPAC Season in Nebraska

FREMONT/SEWARD, Neb. – The Red Raider men's tennis team began its conference season this weekend, falling to Midland on Friday and coming close against Concordia (Neb.) on Saturday.

In Friday's match at Midland, the Warriors took a 7-0 win over the Raiders. The No. 1 doubles team of David Bomgaars and Jorge Menendez kept it close but fell 6-4 as Midland grabbed the doubles point. In singles, Leandro Costa drove his bout to a tiebreaking set, but dropped the game in the No. 4 game.

On Saturday, the Raiders played a tight contest against the Bulldogs of Concordia, falling 4-3 in the early afternoon. Concordia won all three doubles, while Mateo Flores, Leandro Costa, and Collin Harmelink all earned points for Northwestern in singles. Flores, after losing set one 6-4, came back to win in three.
