Kalvelage and Gleason Represent Raiders at Indoor Championship

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The National Championship is where every team hopes to get to, and the Raiders are no different. The three-day meet would see 12 athletes from the men's and women's team travel and take to the track. For the women, the Raiders would be represented in the 4x800m relay, 4x400m relay, 400m dash open, and the high jump. On the men's side, it would be in the long jump competition.

Freshman Justin Gleason would see his first national competition ever. Gleason up in the first flight would hit his farthest jump on his first attempt at 6.97m or 22' 10.5". An "off" jump on his second attempt would leave only one more jump in the preliminaries to better his mark. Unfortunetly his take-off foot would land 1/8th of an inch too far over the take off board, causing his jump to be called a foul.

Braden Kalvelage would unfortunately be unable to find the right rhythm and stay inside the foul mark of the take off board. His first two jumps would be mere centimeters over the foul line, leaving just the final jump. On the final jump, Kalvelage would be find the board, and get a measured jump. It would measured at 6.86m or 22' 6.25".

Up Next: That concludes the NAIA Indoor Track and Field season. The men's and women's track and field teams will be back for the outdoor season. They will open up at Wayne State, March 28th and 29th.
