Raider Tennis Goes 2-0 Against NCAA Opponents

| Box Score 2 MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Northwestern men's tennis team won both of their matches today, defeating NCAA Division III opponents Cornell (Iowa) and Wisconsin Lutheran.

In their first match, a 7-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran, the Raiders started doubles with 8-0 wins for the teams of David Bomgaars/Jorge Menendez and Leandro Costa/Mateo Flores. The No. 3 team of Arthur Vicente/Collin Harmelink won 8-3.

Winning trends continued in singles as Menendez, Flores, Costa, Vicente, and Harmelink each took two-set victories over their opponents, while Bomgaars earned a 10-4 win in the tiebreaker.

Their second match against the host school Cornell came down to the wire as both teams took three singles wins. Using the NCAA's nine-point match system with each doubles win earning a point, the wins by Bomgaars/Menendez and Vicente/Harmelink paid off as the Raiders ended the road trip unbeaten.

Up Next: Northwestern is set to face Augustana (S.D.) on February 16 in Sioux Falls.
