Brock Murphy Writes Name in Program Record Book

The senior sets new single-season and career scoring average records

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Senior golfer Brock Murphy wraps up a standout golfing career for the Red Raiders, being the most consistent golfer in program history. The senior leaves Northwestern with program records in both career- and single-season scoring averages.

"Brock's statistics speak for themselves but what they don't show is all of the hard work he's put in to achieve all of these great things. He's never been an athlete that was satisfied with where he was.  He was consistently striving to get better each practice and it really paid off," noted head men's golf coach Aaron Aberson. "On top of the records, Brock always stood out as an amazing teammate and someone that represented Northwestern well.  We will miss him a great deal!"

Murphy (Sr., Tea, S.D.) now finds his name atop of the program's record book in career scoring average with an average of 74.40 of golfers with at least thirty rounds of golf played for Northwestern. The record breaks the mark of 74.98 held by Justin Kraft (2014-18).

In his career, Murphy competed in 83 rounds of golf and earned Week 2 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Golfer of the Week honors this past season. He finished in the top-5 six times and the top-10 15 times in his Red Raider career. His best round of golf was a 65 (-6) at the Siouxland Invite in 2019, which currently sits in a three-way tie for first for the best single-round score in NWC men's golf history.

The senior also broke the program's single-season scoring average with a 73.00 on the season, aiding him to break the program's career-scoring mark. He competed in all 11 events on the year, playing 27 rounds of golf. The Tea, S.D. native breaks the record of 73.19 that was set by Neil Malenke in the 2012-13 season. Of the program's top-10 list, the record holds even with five more rounds played than anyone else on the top-10 list.
