ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Northwestern men's track team hosted the Red Raider Open on April 13-14. The Raiders found their stride over the two-day event despite battling the wind and cold temperatures, finishing with six first-place finishes and six second-place finishes.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Joseph Kunert took home a first-place finish in the 5000m run (16:10.05).
- With a mark of 40.93, Joe Callahan placed first in discus.
- Levi Cross (33:22.64) finished first in the 10,000m run, while Hayden Lee finished fourth (37:51.76).
- In the decathlon, the Raiders took the top two spots with Bryce Paulsen (5525) taking home first place, and Ben Thelander (5255) second place.
- Dawson Jacobsma placed fifth in the 1500m run (4:32.22).
- In the 110m Hurdles, Benn Yol (17.15) took home a second-place finish followed by third and fourth place finishes by Carter Brouwer (17.61) and Gunner Vargas (20.08).
- In the 400m dash, Wyatt Pryor secured a first-place finish with a time of 54.19, while Mason Adams finished fourth (55.48).
- Jake Davies and Daniel Strand both earned top five finishes in the 100m dash. Davies took second with a time of 11.37, while Strand took third with a time of 11.68.
- In the 800m run, Trey Engelmann took home third place with a time of 2:01.75.
- Mason Adams (24.32) finished fifth in the 200m dash.
- The Raiders 4x400m relay team - Davies, Brasser, Engelmann, Pryor - finished second (3:33.68).
- William Minnick took home two top 5 finishes. He placed fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.39m, and placed fourth in shot put with a mark of 12.95m.
- With a mark of 1.90, Aaron Shepard took second place in high jump, while Noah vanDonkersgoed earned fourth place (1.80).
- Battling fellow Red Raider, Lorenzo Jones took home first in the triple jump with a mark of 13.62m.
- James Gilbert Jr. and Dexter Wiese took home first and second place in long jump with marks of 6.63 and 6.26, respectively.
Up Next: The Red Raiders will travel to Vermillion, S.D. on April 22-23 for the South Dakota Challenge.
