Red Raiders Jump Up to No. 16 in Second NAIA Coaches' Poll

Raiders ranked top-20 for seventh poll under Rotert

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In the second regular season National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) women's basketball poll of the regular season, the Northwestern College women's basketball team (8-0, 3-0 GPAC) slid up nine spots and now holds the No. 16-ranking in the NAIA.

The Red Raiders are ranked inside the top-20 for the first time since the final regular season poll of 2021-22, when NWC was also ranked No. 16. Last season, Northwestern was ranked in all six of the regular season polls, ranked as high as No. 12 (Poll No. 2, Dec. 1, 2021).

Starting the season with a 8-0 mark for the second-straight season, the Red Raiders have outscored opponents 661-449, holding seven of the eight opponents to under 40% shooting from the floor, and two under 30%. Northwestern is ranked inside the top-20 in the NAIA in four different categories: field goal percentage (5th), assists per game (7th), turnovers per game (T12th), and points per game (14th).

Offensively, three Raiders are averaging double digits in Molly Schany (Jr., Emmetsburg, Iowa) (16.3), Maddie Jones (Sr., Twin Lakes, Iowa) (15.5), and Emilee Danner (Sr., Westside, Iowa) (13.0). Defensively, Danner leads the conference in blocks (15) and blocks per game (1.9).

For head coach Kristin Rotert, it marks the eighth poll her squad has been ranked inside the top-25 under her leadership.
