Mackey To Play Baseball at Northwestern

Brayden Mackey (Hastings, Neb.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Northwestern College in the fall.

Mackey is a 6'0" pitcher / outfielder who played three years for the Hastings High School baseball team. Mackey posted a 5-1 record with 1.43 ERA in 39 innings pitched last season while earning 2021 Nebraska Baseball honorable mention honors. He held opponents to a .188 batting average and struck out 33 hitters. Mackey hit .290 with five doubles and a home run for his career and helped lead his team to a pair of district titles and a the No.1 seed in the state baseball tournament in 2021.

"Bradyen is a player who we are really excited about," noted Northwestern Head Coach Brian Wede. Brayden can do a number of different things well on the field and will be a great fit for who we strive to be. We look forward to watching him develop and grow as a player and young man while he is here."

An academic all-state selection, Mackey plans to study political science at Northwestern. He is the son of Brett and Paige.

"I chose to attend Northwestern because of the friendly and Christian environment," said Mackey. "Northwestern is a place that felt like home and also a place where I can play baseball while getting a great education."
