Raiders Finalize Four-Game Series at Doane

CRETE, Neb. – Doane came up with the four-game sweep of Northwestern in the two-day series.

How It Happened
The Raiders dropped the third game of the series to Doane with a final score of 15-9. Despite scoring in each of the final four innings, the Red Raiders could not overcome the Tigers' eight-run fifth inning.

The Red Raiders began the game quietly, unable to generate any hits in the first inning, while the Tigers took an early lead with a pair of triples from Carter Roth and Max Harris, resulting in two runs.

The Raiders responded in the fourth inning. Grant Guidry and Devin Dirkx led off with singles, and Calab Caciari's fielder's choice brought in a run. Tyler Schroeder followed with an RBI single, bringing the score to 4-2 in favor of the Tigers after the fourth.

The fifth inning saw the Raiders rally with three runs. Grant Guidry doubled and Ranier Castillo singled to set the stage. A series of hits, including RBI singles from Calab Caciari and Bryce Click, put the Raiders ahead 5-4 before Doane exploded for eight runs in the fifth.

In the sixth inning, the Raiders added two more runs. Brody Ayers singled, and Dalton Garbers, pinch-running, scored on a walk to Ranier Castillo, narrowing the gap to 15-7 after the Tigers added three more runs.

The Raiders attempted to chip away in the seventh inning. Tyler Schroeder singled and later scored on a walk to TJ Silliman. Dalton Garbers added a sacrifice fly to make the score 15-9, but Doane secured the final out on a strikeout to pick up the win.

How It Happened
The Raiders played to an 8-5 decision in the final game of the series at Doane on Friday. The Red Raiders managed a late rally, scoring five runs in the final two innings, but it was not enough to overcome the Tigers' early lead.

Doane jumped ahead in the second inning with two runs. Brayden Jones doubled to right center, bringing home Jordan Bond. A single by Carter Roth later in the inning scored Sam Kwapnioski.

The Tigers added a run in each of the next four innings, moving ahead 6-0 in the sixth inning before adding another two in the seventh.

The Raiders initiated a comeback in the eighth frame. TJ Silliman scored on a double by Tyler Schroeder, followed by Calab Caciari scoring on Bryce Click's RBI knock to make it 8-2.

Northwestern continued to rally in the final inning. Grant Guidry walked and scored on a bases-loaded walk to Schroeder. Devin Dirkx and Calab Caciari also came home on Click's single, trimming the lead to 8–5 before Doane closed out the game with a three-run advantage.
