Women's Basketball Returns Home To Face Midland

Game Time... (RV) Northwestern College goes for its third consecutive win when they play host to Midland this weekend in a GPAC match-up. Tip-off on Saturday, Feb. 15, is slated for 2pm. Northwestern is in sixth place in the GPAC with a 10-9 record, 15-9 overall; Midland is tied for eighth, along iwith Mount Marty, at 7-12 in the GPAC, 11-16 overall.

All-Time...Northwestern has won nine straight in the rivalry against Midland and leads the all-time series 42-14 since the 1977-78 season.

Last Time vs Midland...Devyn Kemble poured in a career-high 18 points and Alexis Toering scored 17 in leading Northwestern to a 95-87 road win over Midland in a GPAC match-up played in Fremont, Neb. 

Northwestern shot 56% for the game, cooling off to 39% in the final half. Kemble went 7-for-12 from the field en route to an 18-point effort. Toering was 8-for-10 from the floor and pulled down nine boards, one shy of a double-double. Sammy Blum and Hannah Nerem both scored 13 points and Danner added nine points coming of the Red Raider bench.  Northwestern ourebounded Midland 27-24 and forced 20 turnovers; VanderVelde dished out four assists.

Like Northwestern, Midland brings a three-game win streak into this weekend's match-up and the Warriors have won four of their last five. They are tied with Mount Marty for the eighth and final spot in the upcoming eight-team GPAC postseason tournament with three games left. Midland is 7-12 in the conference, 11-16 overall.

Gilbert returns three starters, nine players from a 2018-19 team that finished tied for seventh in the GPAC with a 10-12 record, 15-14 overall. Hired in the spring of 2013, Gilbert spent four years prior as an assistant for the University of Nebraska women's program.

The Red Raiders have won three straight, defeating Dordt, Doane and Jamestown, to move up to sixth place in the current GPAC standings with a 10-9 record, 15-9 overall. They have a one game lead on Jamestown and own the tiebreak against the Jimmies by way of the season sweep. NWC trails Dakota Wesleyan and Dordt by two games but do play the Tigers in one of their three games left.
