Men's Soccer Adds Eight to 2020 Roster

The Northwestern College men's soccer team has added to its recruiting class for 2020 with eight more signings.


Cameron Beach | Defense | Humboldt High School   
Native of Humboldt, Iowa
Cameron is attending Northwestern after a great soccer career for Humboldt under head coach Joe Hadar.  Cameron plans on studying secondary education and social science while at Northwestern.  Cameron was a diverse high school athlete as he also participated in football, basketball, and baseball in his time at Humboldt.  Coach Swier on Beach: "We are very excited to add yet another local talent from Iowa to our squad here at Northwestern.  Cameron is a very versatile player and we cannot wait to see what he will bring to the table."

Dexter Hajek | Midfielder | Roosevelt High School
Native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Dexter comes to Northwestern after completing a fantastic high school career at Roosevelt High School with a state championship in 2019.  The midfielder/forward played under head coach Jud Conner and helped lead his team to a 12-1-2 record during his senior campaign, scoring 9 goals and accumulating 2 assists.  Dexter also earned All-Metro team and Academic All-State honors as a senior.  A National Honor Society member, Dexter plans to enter the Pre-Physician's Assistant program at Northwestern.  Coach Swier had this to say about Hajek: "We have a history of attracting some of the top talent from the Sioux Falls area to our program, and Dexter is no exception.  We are genuinely eager to have Dexter joining our program and school.  He will provide a steady presence that we can count on to show up and work hard day in and day out."

Owen Kolste | Defender | Oostburg High School
Native of Hingham, Wisconsin
Owen joins us from Oostburg High School, a high school we have received a few players from in the past couple years.  Owen had a great career under coach Ryan Ten Pas, scoring 8 goals and assisting 18 times mostly from the outside back position.  His high school team had a record of 21-1-1 and ended up being sectional runner-up.  Owen received all-conference his sophomore, junior, and senior year, was a captain his senior year, and was a 4-year academic letter winner.  Owen plans to pursue nursing while at Northwestern.  Coach Swier on Owen, "Owen comes from a long line of great Oostburg High School players and we are excited to have yet another talented player from there on our roster.  We believe he will make a quick transition to the college game and are looking forward to him joining our program this fall!"

Parker Van Kley | Defender | Unity Christian High School

Native of Orange City, Iowa
Parker is a 6'2" defensive midfielder who played under head coach Steve Westra at Unity Christian in Orange City.  He is a 3-year letter winner and captain of the team.  Parker will compete in his senior season at Unity in the spring of 2020.  He plans to major in Computer Science at Northwestern.  Coach Swier had this to say about Van Kley, "We are very familiar with Parker as he is a native of Orange City.  We love the way he carries himself both on and off the field.  He is a gritty and passionate player and we look forward to seeing him bring that into our program this fall."

Adam Dovaston | Defense | Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College 
Native of Sedgefield, England
Adam is attending Northwestern after a great soccer career for the Spennymore Town U18s under head coach Bobby Coltman.  Adam plans on studying Exercise Science while at Northwestern.  Dovaston has had a good cup run in the past two seasons, receiving runner up in the 18/19 County Cup and currently in the 19/20 County Cup semi-final. Coach Swier on Dovaston: "We are very excited to add yet another talented player from England to our squad here at Northwestern.  Adam is a lockdown defender that we are sure can transition to the GPAC style of play and make an impact in our team right away."

Johannes von Saldern | Defender | Otto Schott Gymnasium
Native of Jena, Germany
Johannes comes to Northwestern after completing a fantastic high school career at Otto-Schott-Gymnasium-Jena and a great club soccer career at SV Schott Jena.  The CB/RB played under head coach Marco Zierman and helped lead his team to a 13-6-3 record last season, which was good for 6th place in the league.  Johannes is coming to Northwestern with an undecided major.  Swier on von Saldern: "Johannes is coming to us from a great family and we hope that he can transition to American life very fast.  With recent vacancies in our backline, now is the perfect time for us to bring in a player with the talents that Johaness possesses."

Alec Coronado | Forward | St. Mary School
Native of Panama City, Panama
Alec is coming to Northwestern after completing his club career with FC Panama City under head coach Martin Grioni.  The winger/forward helped lead his team to a 29-10-12 record during his senior campaign, which was good for second in the league.  Alec scored 15 goals and had 10 assists.  Alec also had a great career at St. Mary School where he is the third all-time top goal scorer.  Alec was an honor roll student and he plans on majoring in Business Administration and Finance.  Swier on Coronado: "Alec comes to us from a great background where he was able to score many goals and be a constant threat to teams on the wings or up top.  His great speed and attack-mindedness will be useful for him on the field this fall."

Marcel Lengert | Defender | Prince Johann Moritz Gymnasium
Native of Siegen, Germany
Marcel comes to Northwestern after completing a great club career with Sportfreunde Siegen where he has been the team captain for seven years.  The defender played under head coach Alexander Stieg.  Marcel has great academics and is planning on studying Business Administration or Sports Management here at Northwestern.  Swier on Lengert: "One thing that is great about Marcel is his versatility; he can play any position along the backline or central defensive midfield.  Marcel knows the game extremely well and we believe that he can step into a big role as soon as he gets here."
