Northwestern Falls 1-0 at Home

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern dropped a 1-0 decision to Briar Cliff on Wednesday in Orange City.

Edoardo Alessandrini handled the Chargers' early look with a save at 4:15, and the Raiders later built a scoreless stretch of pressure from 17:38 to 26:59 with five shots and two Juan Miranda corner kicks. Juan Munoz had a shot blocked, Bram Zwinkels, Gonzalo Domingo and Gerrard Uamai missed high, and Miranda put the final attempt of that spell wide left. The Chargers answered with a blocked shot at 31:23 and three straight shots on goal from 33:31 to 38:03, but Alessandrini saved each one before the Red Raiders received a red card late in the half. The Chargers sent the final shot of the first half high at 45:00, and the teams went into halftime tied 0-0.

Playing a man down, the Raiders withstood shots and corner kick opportunities from Briar Cliff early in the second half. The Red Raiders created chances, but Briar Cliff continued to find looks on the other end. Tobias Noack sent a shot high at 75:42, then scored at 77:26 to put the Chargers ahead 1-0, a score that held through the final whistle.
