Macy Miller

Macy Miller joined the women's basketball coaching staff as an assistant in June of 2021. She serves as the top assistant for the Red Raiders women's basketball program under head coach Kristin Rotert.

"I love Northwestern's mission statement, Honoring Christ through excellence in athletics, because it shows that at our college it is more than just us," said Miller. "We want to perform well and do our best, but it is for the Lord and all the credit goes to Him. Nothing we do is because of our own doing but all Jesus Christ."

Prior to joining Northwestern's staff Miller was a graduate assistant at South Dakota State University (SDSU) for the 2020-21 season.

"I choose to be a coach at Northwestern because I love how you can talk about your faith with your coaches, teammates, and coworkers," noted Miller. "We can continually push each other to be better in our faith and help those that are questioning their faith. It is great to be surrounded by such loving, Christ-like people who share the same values."

Before beginning her coaching career, Miller had a standout playing career at SDSU. She is the Summit League and SDSU career scoring leader (2,355 points). She was a two-time Summit League Player of the Year honoree, a three-time Summit League Tournament MVP, and All-Summit League First Team selection three times. Miller was named to the Summit League all-tournament team all four years. While at SDSU, Miller led her team to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament. After her career at SDSU, Miller was selected 36th in the WNBA draft in 2019. She played one year professionally in Spain.

Miller received a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from SDSU (2019). She earned her Masters of Science degree in Sports and Recreation Administration from SDSU in 2022.

Macy's favorite passage is from Ephesians 2, "This has always been one of my favorite chapters," said Miller. "Without God changing the disposition of our hearts and opening our eyes and ears to the things of Him, we are completely lost. We desire for the things of this earth and are constantly searching for things to make us happy. But God, rich in mercy and grace, called us out of our wrath. '...it is by grace you have been saved.' He loves us so much, he called us out of death by His power, so that not a single person can boast. Nothing we can do on this earth can bring us to salvation but the work of God. It is a free gift!"

If Macy isn't coaching you can find her at a cross fit gym working out, or on the golf course looking for her golf ball. Macy has an older sister, Tara, and two older brothers, Jordan and Jade. She is the daughter of Alan and Shelly Miller.Â
