Fritz Honored as Defensive Player of the Week

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Northwestern senior safety Kylar Fritz has been named the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Hauff/Mid-America Sports.

"Kylar made his presence felt in the run game and also made a couple huge plays down the stretch to help seal the win for us," head coach Matt McCarty said.

Fritz was responsible for forcing two fourth-quarter turnovers in Northwestern's 35-33 win over Mount Marty on Saturday night. He opened the quarter with a fumble recovery before sealing the game with a pick in the end zone. In total, Fritz had six tackles, two pass breakups, an interception, and a fumble recovery.

Northwestern is back home this Saturday, hosting Midland at 6:00 p.m.
