Bennett Named NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northwestern sophomore kicker Gianna Bennett has been named the PrestoSports NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

"Gianna had another outstanding day kicking for us," head coach Matt McCarty said. "It was fun to see her break the record at home, too. She continues to be consistently excellent for us.

Bennett became college football's all-time leading female scorer, passing the mark on a 34-yard field goal at the end of the first quarter. She went 6-for-6 on PATs to total nine points on the game. Bennett is second in the GPAC in kicking points (54) and tied for the lead in made field goals (7).

Earlier today, Bennett was honored as the GPAC Special Teams Player of the Week, claiming the conference honor for the second consecutive week.

The Raiders have had two players recognized with national awards this season as Colby Duncan collected NAIA Offensive Player of the Week honors on September 7.

Northwestern will look to extend its four-game winning streak this week, facing Waldorf on the road.
