Fritz Captures NAIA Player of the Week Accolades

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northwestern senior safety Kylar Fritz has been named the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced today.

A Red Raider has been named an NAIA football player of the week in consecutive weeks after Colby Duncan was named the Offensive Player of the Week following his performance against Morningside.

"Kylar made his presence felt in the run game and also made a couple huge plays down the stretch to help seal the win for us," head coach Matt McCarty said.

Fritz was responsible for forcing two fourth-quarter turnovers in Northwestern's 35-33 win over Mount Marty on Saturday night. He opened the quarter with a fumble recovery before sealing the game with a pick in the end zone. In total, Fritz had six tackles, two pass breakups, an interception, and a fumble recovery.

Northwestern is back home this Saturday, hosting Midland at 6:00 p.m.
