FREMONT, Neb. — Northwestern College (6-1) defeated Missouri Baptist University (7-2) in straight sets with a 3-0 victory at Wikert Event Center on Saturday. The Red Raiders' efficient attack was highlighted by their .357 hitting percentage in the final set.

The first set began with Northwestern establishing momentum through an early kill by Stella Winterfeld, setting the tone for a competitive set. The Spartans capitalized on a couple of errors to keep the score tight, but Northwestern's consistent attacking, led by Nyah Potthoff's frequent assists, maintained their edge. Winterfeld and Halie Kapelke each added crucial kills, contributing to a 5-0 run that helped the Red Raiders expand their lead to 19-15, prompting a timeout from Missouri Baptist. Despite a late push from the Spartans, Northwestern secured the set with a 25-22 victory, concluding with an attack error by Herdie Castillo.

Northwestern edged Missouri Baptist 25-23 in a tense second set. Winterfeld led the charge for the Red Raiders with multiple kills, including one at 15-14 and another at 19-15, both assisted by Potthoff. However, the Spartans' comeback was halted by a service error on the final point, securing the set for the Raiders. The teams prepared for the next set with Northwestern holding a narrow lead.

In the third set, the Red Raiders secured a 25-21 victory over the Spartans, highlighted by a strong performance from Maddy Sampson, who delivered several critical kills. The set commenced with a kill by Sampson, assisted by Potthoff, setting the tone for Northwestern's offensive strategy. Despite an initial back-and-forth exchange, the Raiders capitalized on errors by Missouri Baptist, including multiple service errors, to build a small lead.
