Egli Hired to Men’s Wrestling Coaching Staff

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern men's wrestling head coach Rik Dahl has announced the hiring of Jonah Egli as an assistant coach for the program.

"We couldn't be more excited about welcoming Jonah to the Raider family," Dahl said. "He brings a track record of success wherever he's been and has a passion for the sport of wrestling. We believe he's going to bring the energy and tenacity needed for this team to jump levels!"

Egli comes to Northwestern after coaching stints at Minnesota West Community College and Morningside University, helping develop five All-Americans during his collegiate coaching career. While at Minnesota West, Egli designed and ran the strength and conditioning program alongside his coaching duties. In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Egli has spent time coaching with clubs, middle and high school programs, and wrestling camps.

Egli earned First Team All-GPAC honors during a standout senior season at Morningside, posting a 17-1 record in 2020-21. He finished 18-5 as a junior and went 4-1 as a sophomore after beginning his collegiate career at Iowa Central Community College. Egli graduated from Morningside in 2021 with a degree in mass communication.

"I'm thrilled to have been given the opportunity to be a part of the Northwestern wrestling program," Egli said. "The whole staff is full of energy and eager to grow. Northwestern feels like a perfect fit for me and I can't wait to get to work".

Hailing from Fort Dodge, Iowa, Egli's connection to Northwestern extends beyond the wrestling mat. His brothers, Ben and Levi, recently graduated from Northwestern and were members of the football program, while his youngest brother, Jesse, will be an incoming freshman this fall.
