Schilling Announced as Voice of the Raiders

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College has announced the hiring of Matt Schilling as the Voice of the Raiders.

In the role, Schilling will serve as the primary play-by-play announcer for home Red Raider football, volleyball, and basketball games on the GPAC Network and Urban Edge Network. He will also be the host of the Raiders Coaches Show, presented by Iowa State Bank.

"We are thrilled to bring Matt's energy, passion, and professionalism to our livestream broadcasts at Northwestern," Director of Athletic Communications Bradley Laackmann said. "His ability to engage viewers through accurate and informative broadcasting will be a valuable addition to our event coverage."

Schilling brings versatility and experience to the microphone, serving as a high school sports play-by-play personality and video technician for Fuller Digital Solutions. Over the past five years, he has worked as a broadcaster for basketball, volleyball, football, baseball, and softball at Gehlen Catholic High School.

Before moving to Iowa, Schilling was a football video coordinator at Ball State University, the University of Nebraska, and the University of Minnesota. In 2014, he was named the Big Ten Video Coordinator of the Year and was a finalist for National Video Coordinator of the Year.

"I'm excited for this opportunity with Northwestern athletics," Schilling said. "College athletics brings a new challenge for me to connect with student athletes from across the country, and for some, around the world. I look forward to connecting with our coaches, student athletes, and Red Raider nation."

In addition to his broadcasting role, Schilling is the Tech Director at Gehlen Catholic schools. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school's IT department, a role in which he will continue in conjunction with his appointment at Northwestern.

Schilling graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 2004 with a degree in radio and television production. He and his wife, Alison, reside in Le Mars with their children, Andrew, Mason, and Anna.
