Strong Performances Lead Northwestern at GPAC Championships

FREMONT, Neb. – Northwestern finished sixth with 42 points at the GPAC Championships, highlighted by Addison Smith's second-place high jump at 1.62 meters and Tierney Huss's performances in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, securing a spot in the finals and earning points for the team.

Across the Raider men's and women's teams, 70 performances matched or exceeded their rankings and 29 athletes reached personal bests.

Huss was a standout performer, securing seventh place in the 100 Meter Dash Finals with a time of 12.16 seconds. Additionally, she claimed sixth place in the 200 Meter Dash, contributing 3 more points with her time of 24.89 seconds. In the 400 Meter Dash, senior Emma Blum finished seventh, clocking in at 58.35 seconds.

Emily DeGroot made an impact in the 1500 Meter Run, finishing fifth with a time of 4:43.81. The high jump event saw freshman Addison Smith and junior Aubrey DeGroot excel, placing second and third, respectively, both clearing a height of 1.62m. Smith earned 8 points, while DeGroot added 6 points to the team score. The 4x400 Meter Relay team, featuring Emma Blum, Tierney Huss, Jordan Shull, and Macy Schroeder, placed fourth with a time of 3:55.83.

Sprints 
Tierney Huss placed 7th in the 100 Meter Dash Finals with a time of 12.16 and 6th in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 24.89. Emma Blum finished 7th in the 400 Meter Dash, clocking 58.35.

Middle Distance 
Emily De Groot secured 5th place in the 1500 Meter Run with a time of 4:43.81. The 4x800 Meter Relay team finished 4th, timing 9:32.01.

Distance 
Kayden Spencer achieved 9th place in the 5K, finishing in 18:47.84, and 6th in the 10000 Meter with a time of 39:05.70.

Hurdles 
Carly Dunn placed 9th in the 100 Meter Hurdles, recording a time of 15.08.

Jumps 
In the High Jump, Addison Smith and Aubrey DeGroot took 2nd and 3rd places, both with a height of 1.62m.

Throws 
Jenna Vande Weerd reached 11th place in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 34.95m.
