Three Top-10 Individuals, Competitive Relays Highlight Visit to Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – R Northwestern College turned in a strong showing against elite competition at the Drake Relays, highlighted by multiple top-10 finishes and several season-best relay performances.

On the men's side, Braden Kalvelage led the way with a fifth-place finish in the long jump, posting a mark of 7.24 meters. Carson Van Sickle added a top-10 performance on the track, placing seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.85.

The Red Raider relays continued to show progress, as the men's 4x400-meter team of James Heinz, Landon Price, Aziah Ashley, and Collin Bliven clocked a season-best time of 3:18.09.
On the women's side, Addison Smith secured a 10th-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.66 meters. The 4x800-meter relay team of Macy Schroeder, Brooklyn Fryar, Emily DeGroot, and Brielle Engelmann placed ninth with a season-best time of 9:28.98.

Northwestern also recorded another season-best performance in the women's 4x400-meter relay, as Emma Blum, Tierney Huss, Jordan Shull, and Schroeder combined for a time of 3:55.14.

Additional performances included an 11th-place finish in the shuttle hurdle relay from Carly Dunn, Sara Thonvold, Emma Nath, and Payton Kleinhesselink (1:04.57). The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Dunn, Kenzie Harder, Mya Van Donge, and Huss placed 15th (48.12), while the men's 4x100-meter relay of Carter Van Donge, Bliven, Heinz, and Mike Rodriguez finished 17th (42.23).

In the field events, Drew Geetings placed 22nd in the javelin with a throw of 42.21 meters and also competed in the high jump.
