Softball Student-Athletes Receive CSC Academic All-District Accolades

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three Northwestern softball student-athletes have been recognized with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors. Cassidy Gors, Sydney Jacobs, and Tatum Schmalbeck are Northwestern's honorees, receiving accolades for their work on the field and in the classroom.

A 2026 graduate with a degree in elementary education, Gors started 43 games and earned All-GPAC Honorable Mention accolades in her senior season. On the year, she drove in 20 runs and scored 19 times. Gors collected 11 steals and had 320 putouts in the infield.

Earning CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career, Jacobs played in all but one game as a junior. The exercise science major from Mankato, Minnesota scored 24 times and drove in 16 runs, notching six doubles and a triple. She was efficient on the base paths, stealing successfully in nine of 10 attempts.

A two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, Schmalbeck was a two-way standout in her junior season. She hit .320 with 43 RBIs, sitting second on the team and fifth in the GPAC in runs batted in. An elementary education major from Sioux Center, Iowa, Schmalbeck stepped up in the circle when the Raiders needed her most, earning 12 wins with a GPAC-leading four saves in 109 innings pitched and earned Second Team All-GPAC honors.

Academic All-America teams will be announced on Tuesday, June 16.
