Raiders Pick Up Another Conference Win on Thursday

SIOUX CITY, IOWA - Northwestern defeated Mount Marty 6-1 on Thursday at the First Serve Tennis Center. The Red Raiders secured victories in five of the six singles matches and won two of the three doubles contests.

Northwestern secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Matilde Di Martino and Pietra Ferreira posted a 6-4 win over Camila Lopez and Maria Azul Medina Lobos at No. 1 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Hannah Beckloff and Alloree Else won by default. The Lancers took the No. 2 doubles match with Alexandra Salazar and Kayla Marsh defeating Madalyn Kolb and Bryn Higginbotham, 6-3.

In singles, Northwestern extended its lead with Matilde Di Martino's straight-set victory, 6-4, 6-2, over Maria Azul Medina Lobos at No. 1 singles, and Pietra Ferreira's 6-3, 6-1 win over Alexandra Salazar at No. 2 singles. Mount Marty picked up a point at No. 3 singles when Camila Lopez defeated Alloree Else, 6-4, 6-2.

Madalyn Kolb clinched the match for the Raiders at No. 4 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kayla Marsh, making the overall score 4-1. Hannah Beckloff added another point for Northwestern, finishing with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Brooklyn McNac at No. 5 singles. The match at No. 6 singles was won by default by Bryn Higginbotham. The final score was Northwestern 6, Mount Marty 1.
