Raiders Experience Home Setback on Friday

ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Northwestern College fell to Doane University 6-1 on Friday. Northwestern secured its lone singles victory at the No. 3 position.

Doane (NE) secured the doubles point with victories across all courts. At No. 1 doubles, Maria Purizaca and Liz Calderon overcame Matilde Di Martino and Pietra Ferreira, 6-2. The No. 2 doubles match saw Grace Schroller and Kat Johnson defeat Madalyn Kolb and Bryn Higginbotham, 6-0. In the final doubles match, the Tigers' Isabella Castillero and Alejandra Prat bested Hannah Beckloff and Alloree Else, 6-4.

In singles play, Doane (NE) extended its lead with Maria Purizaca's straight-set win over Di Martino at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Liz Calderon added another point for the Tigers by defeating Ferreira at No. 2 singles in a three-set match, 5-7, 6-0, 6-1. Northwestern claimed its sole singles victory at No. 3 singles, where Else triumphed over Kat Johnson, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

The Tigers continued their dominance with Grace Schroller prevailing over Kolb at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 5 singles, Isabella Castillero secured a straight-set win against Higginbotham, 6-2, 6-2. Alejandra Prat concluded the match with a win over Beckloff at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-1, leading Doane (NE) to a final dual score of 6-1.
