Raiders Close Regular Season with Split in Rainy Conditions

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – A rainy Saturday saw Northwestern and Waldorf split matchups, with the Raiders claiming a walk-off win in game one.

How It Happened
Northwestern edged out a narrow 3-2 victory over Waldorf on Saturday, with late runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings proving decisive. The Red Raiders tallied seven hits and two walks from their offensive lineup.
 
The scoring began in the sixth inning when Ranier Castillo homered to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.
 
Waldorf responded in the seventh inning with two runs. Zane Silos-Holmes doubled and later scored on AJ Toulouse's sacrifice bunt, with Chase Dodge also scoring on an Andrew Herrin double, putting the Warriors ahead 2-1. The Red Raiders answered in the bottom of the seventh as Calab Caciari singled and later scored on Jack Craig's RBI single, tying the game at 2-2.
 
In the eighth inning, the Raiders took the lead for good. Nikolai Wede was intentionally walked, TJ Silliman walked to load the bases, and Brody Ayers singled to score Wede, walking it off 3-2 in extra innings.

How It Happened
Northwestern fell to Waldorf  with a final score of 13–7 on Saturday. The Red Raiders managed two home runs and drew nine walks, but could not overcome the Warriors' early six-run second inning.
 
Northwestern faced an early deficit in the first inning after Waldorf's Andrew Herrin scored on a sacrifice fly, followed by a solo home run from Jack Kamalski. The score was 2–0 in favor of the Warriors at the end of the first inning.
 
In the second inning, Waldorf extended its lead significantly with six runs, highlighted by a Chase Dodge RBI single, a wild pitch that scored a run, and a two-RBI single by Dylan Battye. The Raiders responded with two runs of their own, as Nikolai Wede scored on a sacrifice fly by Dalton Garbers and Calab Caciari crossed the plate on a groundout. By the end of the second inning, the Warriors led 8–2.
 
Northwestern added a run in the third inning when Bryce Click, who was hit by a pitch, scored on a sacrifice fly by Devin Dirkx. Waldorf's lead was 8–3 through three innings.
 
The fifth inning saw the Raiders narrow the gap slightly, as Ranier Castillo hit a solo home run to make it 8–4. Northwestern scored again in the sixth inning with a solo homer by Garbers, bringing the score to 8–5.
 
In the seventh inning, the Warriors capitalized on a series of hit batters and a walk to add five runs, pushing their advantage to 13–5. The Red Raiders scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning, as Dirkx and Wede both crossed the plate.
