American State Bank Raider Athletes of the Week

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern College athletics has named men's basketball student-athlete Jesse Van Kalsbeek and softball student-athlete Tatum Schmalbeck as the Raider Athletes of the Week, presented by American State Bank, for their performances during the week of March 2nd.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jesse Van Kalsbeek, Men's Basketball

Van Kalsbeek (So., Sheldon, Iowa) was the image of consistency through the first two rounds of the GPAC Tournament averaging 25.5 points and 15 rebounds per game.
The sophomore continued his streak of 11 straight games with 20+ points and eight straight games with 10+ rebounds.
Van Kalsbeek had his best game in the win over Mount Marty with 24 points, 18 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and two steals.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Tatum Schmalbeck, Softball

Schmalbeck (Jr., Sioux Center, Iowa) batted .500 with five RBIs last week while picking up her fourth save in the circle.
The junior had four hits, including two doubles, over the weekend without striking out.
Schmalbeck's four saves this season is the most by a Raider pitcher since 2023.
