Raiders Match Program Records in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. – Northwestern secured first place at the Doane Spring Invite with a final score of 566, led by Evan Smith's standout performance, shooting a 5-under-par 137.

The Raiders showed significant improvement in the second round, shooting a 274 compared to 292 in the first round, matching the program's single-round low last achieved in 2015 at the Siouxland Invite. Smith led the team with a standout performance, finishing first individually with a score of 137, including a remarkable 65 in the second round, tying the program's single-round low.

Ben Christy also contributed significantly to the Red Raiders' success, tying for sixth place with an even-par total of 142, highlighted by a two-under 68 in the second round. Qwenton Caldwell rounded out the top performers for the Raiders, finishing tied for 10th with a score of 143. His consistent play included a second round of 70, which was even par. In the first round, Caldwell made a significant impact by eagling both holes 2 and 7. The Raiders' depth was further demonstrated by Ray Greller and Axton Miller, who both tied for 21st with scores of 146. Axton Miller's performance in the second round included an eagle on hole 15.

PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
Smith led the Red Raiders, finishing first with a final score of 137 (-5) for his second career tournament win. He delivered a strong performance, opening with a 72 (E) and closing the tournament with an impressive second round of 65 (-5), where he eagled hole 11.

Christy tied for sixth place, concluding the invite with a score of 142 (E). His consistent play included a first round of 74 (+2) and an improved second round of 68 (-2).

Caldwell tied for 10th, ending with a total of 143 (+1). He maintained steady play, carding a 73 (+1) in the first round and an even 70 in the second round.

Greller tied for 21st, scoring 146 (+4) over the two rounds. He shot 73 (+1) on the first day and matched with another 73 (+3) in the second round.
