Northwestern Falls to Top-Ranked Dordt

ORANGE CITY, Iowa- Despite a determined effort, Northwestern fell to top-ranked Dordt  with a final score of 78-55 at the Bultman Center. The Raiders put up 30 points in the paint, but the Defenders capitalized on Northwestern's 23 turnovers, turning them into 23 points.

The game opened with the Raiders taking an early lead, sparked by Margo Schuiteman's jumper in the first minute. However, Dordt quickly answered back, with back-to-back three-pointers to jump ahead 11–2. Northwestern's defense showed up with blocks from Kylie Foss, but turnovers stifled their offensive momentum. Allison Piercy's late three-pointer narrowed the gap, but the Defenders closed the first quarter ahead 18–14. The second quarter proved challenging as Northwestern struggled to find their offensive rhythm, even with key points from Kluxdal and Piercy. Turnovers continued to plague the Raiders, and Dordt took advantage, widening their lead with efficient shooting and defensive stops to lead 46–21 at the half.

In the second half, the Raiders came out strong with Ashtyn Wobig and Emily TerWee contributing a series of layups, however, Dordt's consistent scoring kept them firmly in control. Schuiteman's three-pointer kept the Raiders fighting, but Dordt ended the quarter up 61-32. The fourth quarter saw the Raiders focusing on closing the gap with strong plays in the paint. Schuiteman opened with a layup, sparking a series of effective inside scoring. Despite facing a 34-point deficit at one point, the Raiders showed resilience, upping their paint scoring to 16 points and grabbing multiple defensive rebounds. Dordt would show why they're number one in the country as they win, 78-55.
