Red Raiders Post Strong Showing at Dennis Young Indoor Classic

STORM LAKE, Iowa – Northwestern's women's track and field team turned in a strong day of competition at the Dennis Young Indoor Classic on Saturday, producing multiple top-five finishes across sprints, middle distance, distance, and field events.

Kenzie Harder continued her standout indoor season, winning the 200m in 25.29 and capturing first place in the long jump with a mark of 5.62m.

In the sprints, sophomore Tierney Huss won the 60m with a 7.90 mark and placed second in the 200m, marking a time of 25.68. Lauren Waypa also found the podium in the 60m, running a time of 8.28.

The hurdles group also found success, led by Carly Dunn, who won the 60m hurdles finals with a time of 9.33. Payton Kleinhesselink followed with a third-place finish in 9.78.

Middle-distance success continued as Macy Schroeder won the 800 meters in 2:24.07, while Brielle Engelmann placed third and Maci Schmalbeck finished fifth. In the mile, Emily De Groot and Kayden Spencer finished second and third, respectively.

Field events produced several top results for the Red Raiders. In the high jump, Addison Smith earned first place, while Aubrey DeGroot tied for second. Avery Kallies captured first in the triple jump, and Northwestern added top-five placements in the shot put and weight throw.
