Red Raiders Record Multiple Podium Finishes at Dordt Open

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Northwestern opened 2026 with a strong showing at the Dordt Open on Saturday, producing multiple podium finishes across sprints, hurdles, jumps, and middle-distance events.

Freshman Kenzie Harder led the Red Raiders with a pair of victories, winning the 60 meters in a record-setting 7.69 and claiming the long jump title with a mark of 5.62 meters. Harder also added a first-place finish in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 25.71 and breaking the record in that event as well.

Northwestern found success in the hurdles as Carly Dunn earned a title in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.66, while Sara Thonvold followed with a third-place finish in 10.11. In the 60 meters, Mya Van Donge finished as the runner-up, clocking an 8.16.

In the middle distances, Brielle Engelmann placed second in the 800 meters (2:26.06), with Macy Schroeder taking third (2:26.95). Emma Blum added a third-place effort in the 400 meters, running 59.90, while Emily De Groot secured second in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:38.86.

The Red Raiders also picked up podium finishes in the field events. Kenna Gustafson finished second in the triple jump (10.03m), followed closely by Arya Compton in third (9.41m). Northwestern closed the meet with a second-place performance in the 4x400-meter relay, posting a time of 4:17.12.
