Late Goal Deals Raiders a Loss

LAMONI, Iowa - It was highs and lows for Northwestern in a close match against Graceland where they would fall 2-1 after the Yellowjackets score a goal with under two minutes left in the contest.

In the first half, Graceland pressured the Raiders with frequent offensive efforts, but the defense stood strong through the first half. Bailey Bynum made key saves, including one in the 25th minute and another in the 31st minute. On the offensive side, the Northwestern's Hannah Gordon and Alejandra Rodriguez tested Graceland, but both attempts were saved, leaving the score tied at 0-0 by the end of the half. The second half began with the Yellowjackets once again pressuring the Northwestern defense, resulting in three early saves by Bynum. Graceland broke the deadlock and took a 1-0 lead in the 65th minute. Northwestern responded with a goal of their own soon after as, in the 78th minute, Marissa Talamantes knocked in a goal off the post with an assist by Aliza Edwards, leveling the match at 1-1. However, Graceland reclaimed the lead as the game was winding to a close in the 88th minute securing a 2-1 victory for the home team.
