Raiders Open Season in Rain-Shortened Competition

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – In a field stacked with many of the top teams in the NAIA, the No. 17-ranked Northwestern men's golf team placed sixth to open its season at the UC Ferguson Classic.

Originally scheduled for three rounds, the contest consisted of two rounds, seeing Northwestern post a score of 563 (-5). Leading the way was sophomore Axton Miller, consistently posting 69 (-2) in each round. Qwenton Caldwell also put together a top-15 performance, shooting 70 in the first round and 69 in the second, narrowly missing his career-best of 68.

Sophomores Trey Van Roekel and Carson Uitermarkt also stood out, with Van Roekel reaching the best single-round score of his collegiate career at 71 and Uitermarkt eclipsing his career-best by four strokes in the second round.
