Edoardo Alessandrini and volleyball student-athlete
Zavyr Metzger as the Raider Athletes of the Week, presented by American State Bank, for their performances during the week of August 25th.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Edoardo Alessandrini, Men's Soccer
- Alessandrini (Jr., Rome, Italy) held down the net allowing zero goals in a shutout win over Montreat (NC).
- The junior notched three saves, including a clutch grab at 83 minutes to complete the shutout.
- The Raiders return to Orange City this week for the Pizza Ranch Classic against Upper Iowa and Bethel (Kan.)
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Zavyr Metzger, Volleyball
- Metzger (Sr., Larchwood, Iowa) stepped up over the weekend to help the Raiders to a 4-0 record to start the season.
- Offensively, she led the team in kills with 35, including a career high 11 against Spartanburg on Friday.
- Metzger showed her usually defensive prowess with 30 blocks, averaging two per set.
