Northwestern Announced as Five-Star Gold Champions of Character Recipient with Perfect Score

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the fifth time in six years, Northwestern College has been recognized as a gold level Champions of Character Five-Star award winner by the NAIA. Northwestern was one of 112 institutions to receive a perfect score.

"Being a Five-Star gold standard school is a staple for Red Raider athletics," Vice President for Athletics Tony Hoops stated. "The NAIA Champions of Character program is a measurable tool that reflects our mission of Honoring Christ Through Excellence in Athletics. I'm thankful for our athletic staff that is committed to this mission and the student-athletes that live it out each day."

To achieve a gold distinction, a school must score 90 or above on the Champions of Character scorecard. The NAIA measures institutions on character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition, and character promotion. Institutions also earn points for exceptional grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition.

The Raiders had seven teams finish their season in NAIA tournament competitions. Individually, two wrestlers and 11 indoor and outdoor track and field events qualified for their respective NAIA Championships.
