Dunham (1-0) L: Dirkx, Devin (6-3) Game Recap: Baseball | Sunday, April 27, 2025 | NWC Athletic Communications Raiders Fall in Regular Season Finale Fremont, NE - It would be a disappointing end to the season for the Raiders as they traveled to Midland and dropped both games of the doubleheader to end regular season competition, 5-2 and 11-6. Game 1: NWC 2 - Midland 5 Pitching Decisions Win: B. Creps (2-0) Loss: Grant Rychnovsky (1-5) The Raiders take the early lead in the third inning when Devin Dirkx hit an RBI single down the right field line. Grant Guidry later scored on a sacrifice fly by Bryce Click, giving Northwestern a 2-0 lead. The Warriors responded in their half of the third with two doubles, resulting in two runs to tie the game at 2-2. Midland took control in the fourth inning, scoring three runs. The Raiders' pitching staff held the Warriors scoreless for the remainder of the game, with Terpstra recording a three-up, three-down inning in the sixth. Despite Northwestern's efforts, the offense was unable to narrow the gap, resulting in a 5-2 win for the Warriors. Game Notes: Grant Guidry logged two hits and scored a run Grant Rychnovsky only allowed two hits but gave up four earned runs Brody Ayers notched four assists in the field Game 2: NWC 6 - Midland 11 Pitching Decisions Win: T. Dunham (1-0) Loss: Devin Dirkx (6-3) Northwestern began with a strong showing in the first inning, scoring three runs on two hits. Devin Dirkx's RBI single scored the first run before Karsten Mathsen followed it up with a two-RBI double, giving the Raiders an early 3–0 lead. Midland surged ahead in the second inning, plating six runs on six hits, including three doubles and a homerun, which put the Warriors on top 6–3. The Raiders chipped away at the deficit in the fourth inning when Braydon Beelner hit a solo home run to left field. Despite further pressure with runners on base, the inning concluded with only one run added, trimming the Warriors' lead to 7–4. In the seventh inning, Northwestern managed to score again as Mathsen's groundout to shortstop allowed a runner to score, bringing the score to 7–5. The Raiders continued to fight back in the eighth inning with a Grant Rychnovsky RBI single, however, the Warriors responded in their half with four runs on five hits, stretching their lead to 11–6. Despite efforts in the ninth inning with bases loaded, the Raiders could not capitalize. The Warriors secured the victory with a final score of 11–6.
