Cheer Clinches Second Consecutive GPAC Title

SEWARD, Neb. – Northwestern's competitive cheer squad captured the GPAC Championship trophy for the second year in a row on Saturday, posting an overall score of 89.37.

The Raiders posted a score of 86.05 in the prelims, finishing second among competing schools.

With the pressure on for the finals, Northwestern improved its score by over four points, hitting a 90.48 to move into the driver's seat. Once the weighted totals were calculated, the Raiders ended up on top with a cumulative score of 89.37.  

"We knew that we needed to clean a few things up between prelims and finals, and we hit a solid routine to close out the day," head coach Taylor Decker said.

With their win today, the Raiders received an automatic berth to the 2025 NAIA Competitive Cheer and Dance Championship in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Up Next: Northwestern will head back to the NAIA Championships in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Competition will begin with the preliminary round on Friday, March 28.
